1. Definitions

“KLS”, “we”, “us” means KLS Car Rental Ltd. “Renter”, “you” means the person named on the Rental Agreement. “Vehicle” means the car and all accessories provided. “Franchise/Excess” means the maximum amount you are liable to pay in case of damage/theft, subject to terms below.

2. Eligibility & Driver Requirements

  • Minimum driver age: 23 years; valid licence held for ≥ 1 year. Young driver policy applies to drivers ≤25.
  • Additional drivers must be authorised by KLS and listed on the agreement.
  • Acceptable licences: Mauritius, or foreign licence (EN/FR). International Driving Permit recommended if licence is not in EN/FR.

3. Rental Period, Extensions & Late Return

  • Rental starts and ends on the dates/times stated on your agreement.
  • Extensions require prior approval and may change the daily rate.
  • Late returns may incur a fee (e.g., hourly charge or extra day after 3+ hours). Contact KLS to avoid penalties.

4. Rates, Payments & Deposits

  • Rates include basic insurance & taxes unless otherwise stated. Optional add‑ons (child seat, GPS/CarPlay, extra driver) are chargeable.
  • A refundable security deposit and the applicable franchise may be required. Deposits are returned after inspection and settlement of any amounts due.
  • Accepted payments: secure online link, card, cash. Currency differences may apply.

5. Insurance & Franchise (Excess)

The Vehicle is insured subject to the franchise/excess listed above. Reduced‑excess and Premium Cover may be available. Insurance is void if terms are breached (e.g., DUI, unauthorised driver, off‑road use). See our Insurance Policy for details.

6. Permitted Use & Restrictions

  • Vehicle may be used on public roads in Mauritius only; no off‑roading, racing, towing, or driving on beaches.
  • No driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs; no use while using a mobile device without hands‑free.
  • No smoking or vaping in the vehicle.
  • Pets allowed only with prior approval and appropriate carriers/cleaning fees.

7. Damage, Loss & Responsibility

  • Renter is liable up to the franchise for repair costs arising from accidents where renter is at fault, or where fault is unconfirmed.
  • Tyres, rims, windscreen and underbody damage may be excluded from standard cover; Premium Cover may reduce exposure.
  • Loss of keys, misfuelling, interior damage, and accessories (child seat/GPS) are chargeable.

8. Accidents & Claims Procedure

  1. Ensure safety; do not move the vehicle unless necessary.
  2. Contact KLS support 24/7 (number on key tag / agreement) and follow instructions.
  3. Notify police if required; obtain report number. Exchange details and take photos of all vehicles and the scene.
  4. Complete any claim forms requested by KLS/insurer.

9. Fuel, Cleanliness & Smoking

  • Fuel policy: Same‑to‑Same. Refuelling charges may apply if returned with less fuel.
  • Cleaning fees may apply for excessive dirt, sand, stains, or odour (including smoke).

10. Maintenance, Breakdown & Replacement

  • We maintain the vehicle to manufacturer standards. Please report any warning lights immediately.
  • 24/7 roadside assistance is included. A replacement vehicle may be provided subject to availability.

11. Traffic Fines, Tolls & Administrative Fees

  • Renter is responsible for all traffic/parking fines and tolls during the rental.
  • An administrative fee may apply for processing fines or third‑party requests.

12. Vehicle Return & Inspection

  • Return at the agreed location/time in the same condition (fair wear‑and‑tear excepted) with all keys, documents, and accessories.
  • Final inspection will be conducted at return. Charges for fuel/cleaning/damage may be deducted from the deposit.

13. Cancellations & No‑Shows

  • Free cancellation window (e.g., up to 48 hours before pickup) unless otherwise stated on your confirmation.
  • No‑show fees may apply if you fail to collect the vehicle without notice.

14. Data Protection & GPS

KLS processes personal data in accordance with applicable laws for booking, safety, and compliance. Some vehicles may be equipped with GPS/telematics for security and maintenance. See our Privacy Policy.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Mauritius. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Mauritius, unless otherwise required by mandatory law.

17. Acceptance & Signature

By signing the Rental Agreement at pickup (or confirming electronically), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions, including the Insurance Policy and Privacy Policy referenced herein.
